Movember, Day 30: Mission Accomplished

Yes, Movember mission accomplished. No, we didn't cure prostate cancer. I meant my personal mission. Recall: I wanted to look like this fellow, American Chopper star Paul Teutul, Sr. -  

...and you know, I think I came pretty close. As far as my personal donation page went, well, let's just say I'm glad it was a team effort. The good news: the combined Dad 2.0 Summit/DadCentric/Man Of The House group raked in an impressive $17,000. The better news: the folks at Philips Norelco have agreed to match $15,000 of that, in return for a bunch of us videoing ourselves using their gear to shave these monstrosities off of our faces. I'm only too happy to do that, and you can watch the results tomorrow at DadCentric. 

In the meantime, here's one last image of me and my glorious mustache. Although it was a pain in the ass, it was for a great cause - cancer sucks, and as we know, prostate cancer is no laughing matter. Plus, hey, I got a t-shirt.

Movember, Day 16: The Official Mustache Hat And Other New Developments

First, this:

Onward, beloved revolutionary comrades. Yesterday was a good day. Didn't even have to use my AK. That shiny new badge on the right? Today sees the official launch of Dadding, the Babble dadblog that I mentioned in my last post. My second post is up; it's about Movember, and I make jokes about mustache stereotypes which include an obligatory Creepy Predator reference. I've been assured that The Mouse will not be breaking out his black Sharpie and censoring my stuff. Figured I might as well test the waters on my second day. 

You'll probably hear a lot about Dadding; the Marketing Push has begun, and so has the inevitable grumbling. It's all good. I laid out why I chose to join Team Babble, and that's all I'm gonna say about that.  Those of you who've been supportive, thanks. I'll do my best to hold up my end of the log.

Movember, Day 10: Push It Real Good

So you'll get a more official and detailed announcement from my new employers next week, but the ink's dry on an agreement I signed with the folks at Babble. I'll part of a new dad venture that will be launching in a few days. Ironic, no? I'm sure I'll be hearing it from the usual trolls - I'm a sellout, phony, hypocrite, etc. Seems to me, though, that if one of the best known "parenting" sites on the Web is looking to change course and bring dads aboard the boat, joining the crew and participating in that process beats sitting on the shore and throwing rocks. (Also, when one of Time's Top 50 Websites For 2010 offers you a job, you thank them, pat yourself on the back for the work you've put in to get to this point, and say hell, yes.) Between that and everything else - I owe you guys a detailed description of the book, and you'll get it soon, promise - I'm probably gonna be adding a bit more gray to the above picture.

In other news, my latest recap of The Walking Dead is now up at MamaPop, and I talk about Natural Running over at Man Of The House. I'm busy chipping away at the sample material for my book proposal, which I'll talk about as soon as it's in the agent's hands. Oh, and I have another writing gig on the horizon, which I'll tell you about as soon as the virtual ink's dry on the contract. My brain hurts.
